First Christmas Dinner & Festive Recipes

Christmas day is usually very busy, especially if you’re trying to get dinner organised while also looking after your little one! The last thing you need to be worrying about over the festive season is prepping purees for your baby so why not use the food you will be preparing anyway, and give your little one a taste of their very first Christmas dinner. How exciting!

Depending on the stage of weaning  that you and your little one are at, your baby can have most of what you’re having for Christmas dinner. Just remember to put aside a portion before adding any salt or butter, and only use the white meat of the turkey such as the breast, making sure to remove any skin. Also take out some carrots, parsnips, spuds, brussel sprouts and any other vegetables that are on the menu. These can all be used to make vegetable purees and if your baby eats meat you can mix these in with turkey. If they are in the early stages of weaning try something simple like a turkey and potato puree. If they are a little further along you can be a bit more adventurous, add in some homemade cranberry sauce or try brussel sprouts.

The day will be busy so maybe feed your little one their dinner first before you are getting ready to have your own so that you don’t have to rush it (and you may even get to enjoy it in peace). If they are old enough for finger foods, give them a few soft vegetable sticks or chunks or some chopped up turkey breast to keep them entertained and involved during the meal.

Making up Christmas baby purees is also a great way to use up some of those Christmas leftovers! Make up large batches and freeze some in an ice cube tray. Not only will you be using up the leftovers but these will be really handy to have prepared when the hectic New Year arrives.
