AMAZING Christmas Decorations/Crafts with Jars

  1. Photo Ornaments for the Tree

christmas decorations from jars

What you’ll need:

  • 1 x Cow & Gate baby food jar & the lids (our new clear labels are easy to remove)
  • Something to puncture a hole in the lid (a hammer and nail)
  • Ribbon
  • 2 x Adorable printed photos (to fit in the jar)
  • Glitter (optional- but adds to the festiveness)

Clean out jars and remove the labels. Punch a hole in the lid, from the top to keep the sharp metal parts on the inside. Our lids are festive green anyway, but if you’d like, you can paint/spray paint them a different colour. Add some ribbon as your ornament hanger- loop it, push the loop through the top of the lid, and tie a knot underneath. Put your two photos back to back and place in the jar. Add some glitter for a snow globe effect! Screw the lid back on the jar and hang on the tree!

  1. Christmas Treat Jars

These can also be ornaments, by adding a hanger to the lid above!

What you’ll need:

  • 3 x Cow & Gate baby food jars & the lids (our new clear labels are easy to remove)
  • Glitter – Red, white and brown
  • Googlie eyes
  • Red pom pom
  • Black ribbon
  • Black beads/black paper
  • Orange paper
  • Brown pipe cleaner
  • Glue  (we found a spray adhesive works best for this!)

Clean out jars and remove the labels.  Cover the jars with a layer of glue. Pour glitter all over the jars, fully covering them. Set aside to dry.

  • Santa Belt:

Once your red glitter is dry, wrap a piece of black ribbon around the jar and glue it in place. Cut a square slightly larger than your ribbon and cut out the centre of the square to make a belt buckle. Glue that in place.

  • Snowman:

Cover your jar in white glitter. Glue two small googly eyes on and then cut a small carrot nose from your orange paper and glue that in place as well. Grab your small black beads/black paper and glue them to create a smile J

  • Reindeer:

Cover in brown glitter. Glue two googly eyes in place and add your pom pom nose. Cut one brown pipe cleaner in half. Snip off another 1-2 inches and wrap them around the other piece to shape it into an antler. Glue this to the lid and screw back onto the jar.

  1. Hot Chocolate Snowman – a great gift for Grannies and Grandads!

What you’ll need:

  • 2 x Cow & Gate baby food jars & the lids (our new clear labels are easy to remove) for each snowman
  • Black tape
  • Black paper
  • Fabric for scarves
  • Black and orange sharpies
  • Hot glue gun/Superglue
  • Pritt Stick
  • Hot chocolate mix
  • Mini marshmallows

Clean out jars and remove the labels. Fill one of the jars with hot chocolate mix, and the other with the marshmallows. Draw on the faces and buttons and glue the jars together. Cover the edge of the lid with black tape and cut circles out of black paper to make the hat rim. Finally, cut strips out of the fabric and tie them around the neck for scarves.
