Babymoon explained and tips for planning one
If you haven’t heard of this new trend yet, a BabyMoon is simply a relaxing and romantic holiday taken by parents-to-be before their baby is born. It’ll allow you and your partner to strengthen your bond, reconnect and recharge the batteries before your little one arrives.
You are counting down the weeks until the big event and both of you are probably nervous about the whole thing; after all, once you held that positive pregnancy test you knew your lives were going to change forever- In a good way, of course. Chances are you’ve been in overdrive lately between running to doctor’s appointments, shopping for your little darling stocking up the freezer etc. A timely trip-for-two that’ll give you and your baby daddy a chance to catch your breath and do some serious couple bonding before your little bundle arrives may be just what the doctor ordered.
Here are some tips for planning one:
Time it right!
Who wants to travel when they can barely keep down their breakfast? And who feels like hitting the road when they barely fit in the car? That’s why it’s recommends you do this in the second trimester, since that’s when you’ll likely feel most energized.
Think about the travel arrangements
One of the main reasons for the baby moon is to relax and de-stress so don’t undo all of that by involving to much travel. If you’re flying to your destination, stick to nonstop flights (you really don’t want to be running for connections) and request an aisle seat so those (frequent) bathroom trips are easier to manage. But don’t feel under pressure to leave the country, a staycation in our lovely green isle is perfectly ok too.
Get the right balance
When choosing your destination, go for a place where you relax while still also having pregnancy-friendly activities.
Book the right room
Sleeping with a bun in the oven is tough enough at home so be really specific with your requirements when booking your room. Think king-sized bed, extra pillows to support your body and a nice quiet location.
Schedule some ME time
In just a few months, ME time will essentially become a thing of the past, so use your baby moon enjoy it while you can. Book a facial or a pregnancy massage at the spa or even try a couple’s massage so you and your partner get pampered together. (You’ll definitely reminisce about spa treatments this time next year!)
Whether home or abroad, for a weekend or a week, a babymoon may help you de-stress and prepare for the remainder of your pregnancy. And even though you can’t wait to meet your little darling, your baby moon will be a time that you and your partner will cherish and enjoy together.
