You & your little one have made it to the second trimester and you’re one third of the way through your pregnancy. We understand how tough it has been to keep the secret, but now it’s time to share! This is the week parents-to-be reveal their wonderful news with their friends, family and the rest of the world.
Also developing this week are your baby’s vocal cords (their first step toward saying, ‘I love you, Mum’). And because sound can’t travel through your womb, you can’t hear any sounds or cries yet, but don’t worry, as those vocal cords will get a good workout once they are born.
The spleen has started to develop and will begin to create red blood cells (the bone marrow has the white blood cells covered). And even though your baby is still tiny, he or she already has their very own, unique fingerprints.
