There are lots of rumours going around about the Cow & Gate Follow On Milk ready to use format but we’ve got the facts below to share with you:

Just like Powder

Since our Ready to Use format has a long shelf life and doesn’t need to be stored in the fridge (if unopened), there’s a perception that it’s full of preservatives- but that’s not the case.

The ready to use format is specially formulated to compliment your little one’s weaning diet with key nutrients that your little one needs. In fact it contains all the same nutrients as the Cow & Gate Follow On milk powder.

The ready to use format has a long shelf life because it is heat treated. The milk is made up in our factory the same way you would make up the powder milk at home, and is then heat treated and sealed to prolong the expiry date.

That’s all we do to bring you ready to use milk!

You can use both powder and ready to use in the same day

A lot of parents ask our careline if they can alternate between using powder and ready to use within 24hours. Good news is- you can! You can use powder at one feed and ready to use at another feed depending on what you’re up to on a particular day.

Looks a little different (to powder format)

The heat treatment for the ready to use format mentioned above results in the formula having a slightly darker colour, creamier or thicker consistency than the powder format.

Tastes slightly sweeter

Again, because of the heat treatment the lactose in the milk becomes caramelised and may taste slightly sweeter to your little one.

No need to warm and ready to pour

As the Ready to Use format is an ambient product, and doesn’t need to be refrigerated, there’s no need to heat it up before feeding your little one. If you store it at room temperature (it doesn’t have to be stored in the fridge if it’s unopened), it is ready to use straight away.

You don’t have to discard unused milk

When preparing your little one’s feed, pour the amount they usually drink into their beaker and then you can store any unused milk in the original bottle in fridge to use next time- see back of pack for exact time periods.

Poo changes are normal

If you do try the Cow and Gate Follow On milk ready to use you may notice a slight difference in your little one’s stools. Rest assured this is completely normal!
